| : | Today, Pushkin is regarded as the first national poet and the founder of Russian classic literature. The famous words of 19th-century critic Apollon Grigoriev — ‘Pushkin is everything to us’ — are well-known. But was Pushkin always perceived this way? At what point, and how, did Pushkin achieve his exceptional status in the Russian cultural space? We will explore these and other questions in our course. |
